Besides writing Transformed Into Fire and numerous articles, Judith Hougen leads workshops and classes on formation and is available to speak on a variety of topics:

• Healing our image of God and ourselves
• Brokenness and authenticity vs. competition and performance-based living
• Listening prayer
• Practicing the presence of God
• Living in the present moment
• Prayer
• Ministering in our true selves

Hougen’s speaking style is engaging, centered in her desire to bring people to a place of encounter with God. Spiritual formation is always forged in relationship—with God and with others. Workshops often include group interaction and time for personal reflection and response.

Judith Hougen is passionate about the craft of writing.  She holds an M.F.A. in creative writing and has taught writing on the college level since 1993 as well as lectured on writing for various groups and colleges.  She is available to teach or speak on the following: 

• Poetry and essay writing
• The spiritual life of the writer (intersection of faith and writing)
• Writing style (effective writing mechanics and how to use them to create the strongest writing possible)
• Reading and discussing her own work.

Hougen values workshops that make space for exercises and discussion, creating community within the group.  Her goal is to give participants practical tools for technical excellence and to cultivate within them a deep appreciation for literature and language.  Beyond these things, she desires for the writing life to be a place to deepen one’s experience of God.
